This Wooden Table Lamp is a piece of New Zealand history, lovingly restored and crafted from a vintage carpenter's plane.

Its timeless beauty is complemented by a replica Edison bulb, a natural beeswax finish, and warm hues of the original wood.

Years of grime have been cleaned away to reveal the beautiful beech block - the smoothness a testament to the number of skilled carpenters who once used it in their daily trade.

Two sets of original owner names can be identified on the wood block. This was a normal practice to help identify tools in a busy workplace.

The cutting blade reveals it was made by Robert Sorby, a company established in Sheffield, England in 1828 and which produced high quality steel tools for over a 100 years.

The 'rhino horn' handle is typical of a German or continental style of plane. Sometimes called a Bismarck plane and named after Prince Otto von Bismarck, the first leader of a united Germany from 1862 to 1890.

It is perfect for any space wanting a distinct and meaningful light source.

Each plane comes with a written history.

The plane has been cleaned and hand finished with natural beeswax.

The vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.

Each lamp is independently tagged and tested to ensure the electrics are safe. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.

We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.

Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.

Delivery

We have a $7 flat fee for delivery in the Wellington area, and a (free) click and collect service from Plimmerton, Wellington.

Delivery charges outside of Wellington will be calculated at check-out.

Deliveries to Australia may be subject to custom regulations regarding the importation of timber and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
