How To Use A Lampshade Adaptor Ring

How to insert or remove a lampshade adaptor ring

A small flexible adaptor ring allows a Shades at Grays lampshade frame to be used either for a bayonet bulb fitting base or ceiling pendant fitting, or a screw bulb fitting.

The adaptor is designed to make your lampshade compatible with different types of lamp bases.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Compatibility: The adaptor is designed to fit lampshades with an E27 (Edison Screw) fitting and lamp bases with a B22 (Bayonet Cap) fitting.
  2. Installation: The adaptor typically clips into the shade ring of an E27 lampshade. It has an E27 fitting on the outside (43mm diameter) and a B22 fitting on the inside (29mm diameter)2.
  3. Usage: Once installed, the adaptor allows you to attach your E27 lampshade to a B22 lamp base seamlessly. This means you can use your favorite lampshade with different lamp bases without needing to buy a new one.

The small ‘notch’ (cut out or gap) in the adaptor ring allows the sides to be pushed together, temporarily making it smaller so it can be fitted in to the frame. When removing, the sides can be pushed together and the adaptor flipped out.
