A quiet piece of New Zealand history, brought gently back to light

Crafted from a single piece of reclaimed jarrah timber, this lamp carries a story that began more than a century ago. The timber was likely once part of a structural beam, supporting the roofline of an industrial warehouse in early-1900s New Zealand - a working life defined by strength, endurance, and purpose.

Today, that same timber has been carefully transformed into a heritage lamp with soul and presence.

The rich, tight grain of the jarrah has been hand-polished with natural beeswax, enhancing its warmth while allowing the character of the wood to speak for itself. One edge has been intentionally left natural, preserving the original contours and marks earned over decades of use. These subtle imperfections are not flaws—they are evidence of a life well lived.

Sized to sit beautifully on a bookshelf, sideboard, or smaller interior space, this lamp is designed to create atmosphere rather than overpower it. The soft glow of the candle bulb draws attention to the depth of the grain and the quiet strength of the timber, adding warmth and calm to its surroundings.

The form of the lamp offers more than light alone. Its smooth, flat top invites personal meaning—a place for a small treasured object, such as a carved wooden keepsake or a Japanese netsuke, gently illuminated and elevated by the glow beneath. In this way, the lamp becomes both functional and deeply personal.

This is not mass-produced lighting. It is a considered, handcrafted piece that honours material, memory, and restraint—made for those who value heritage over trend, and story over sameness.

A lamp that doesn’t just light a room, but anchors it.
