Vintage Wood Plane Lamp with a Story

Rescued from forgotten shelves in garages and workshops, these wood planes are given new life by JB. With dedication, he cleans and transforms them into stunning ambient lighting.

This table lamp features a wood block plane from renowned woodworking brand, Alex Mathieson & Sons, founded in Glasgow in the early 19th century. Restored to its former glory, this beech wood lamp proudly displays the brand's name on the cutting blade.

Each lamp comes with a written history, connecting you to the journey of this remarkable piece. More than just a lamp, it's a conversation starter and a testament to responsible design.

The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.

The replica vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.

Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.

We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.

Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.

Delivery

We have a $9.50 flat fee for delivery in the Wellington area, and a (free) click and collect service from Plimmerton, Wellington or Greytown, Wairarapa.

Delivery charges outside of Wellington will be calculated at check-out.

Deliveries to Australia may be subject to custom regulations regarding the importation of timber and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
