Timber art | Handcrafted Door Stop | Wharf Series #93
This is an equisite piece of art, with the natural erosion of the wood creating a visual feast of layers, contours and colours.
The timber, aged by the natural currents of Wellington Harbour was originally imported in to New Zealand more than a century ago. It formed part of the historic Eastbourne Wharf before that structure was restored about a decade ago.
The marks made through time and water erosion have been carefully preserved and enhanced with natural beeswax, allowing its rich character to shine through.
The beauty of the wood is combined with authentic railway iron - or a pandrol clip, which has been cleaned and polished with beeswax.
Enjoy this timeless creation as a piece of art - or use it as a door stop. Whichever you choose it will be much admired.

The timber is Australian Jarrah, a very dense and durable wood that is part of the Eucalyptus family.
Jarrah was imported and used along with other Australian hardwoods in late nineteenth century New Zealand for commercial and industrial construction.
The history of the timber has been retained by leaving any existing bolt holes and surface marks, while exposing and polishing the beautiful end grain.
Both the Jarrah and the old iron have been cleaned, sanded, and hand finished by applying a coating of natural beeswax.
Each Keep Me Post has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
