History Meets Modernity

Embrace sustainable luxury with this unique table lamp. JB rescues these authentic tools from the back of dusty cupboards and musty garages and upcycles them in a celebration of the past.

The meticulously restored beech wood, bearing the marks of its former life, now houses a warm Edison bulb, casting a soft glow that fills your space with eco-conscious ambiance.

This wood table lamp has been created from an old carpenter's block plane made in the USA by the Auburn Tool Company in New York. 

Auburn Tool Company was established in 1864 and for a time their products were produced using Auburn State Prison labour.  

This plane can be accurately dated as being made between1864 and 1893 when Auburn Tool Company merged with the well-known Ohio Tool Company and from that date their wood planes were branded as Ohio not Auburn.

This plane is a 40 cm Technical Jack Plane with a half ’tote’ or handle. The Auburn brand featuring the company name and distinctive ‘thistle’ logo is still clearly visible on the cutting blade and is also stamped on the toe of the wood block.  

Each lamp comes with a written history, connecting you to the journey of this remarkable piece. More than just a lamp, it's a conversation starter and a testament to responsible design.

The replica vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.

Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.

We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.

Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.

Delivery

We have a $9.50 flat fee for delivery in the Wellington area, and a (free) click and collect service from Plimmerton, Wellington or Greytown, Wairarapa.

Delivery charges outside of Wellington will be calculated at check-out.

Deliveries to Australia may be subject to custom regulations regarding the importation of timber and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
