Table Lamp | Authentic Wood Plane | #87
This table lamp is the perfect way to infuse your home with personality and charm - a million miles from the sameness found in retail stores.
Crafted from a vintage carpenter's wood plane, this lamp tells a unique story, initially created in the time of hand tools and cherished belongings.
The addition of an Edison bulb creates a beautiful ambience that's perfect for any space. The light bounces off the smooth wood and begs to be admired and touched.
This wood table lamp has been created from an old carpenter's plane made by Alex Mathieson & Sons, a company established in Glasgow in the early 1800s and producing quality woodworking tools for over a hundred years.
The Mathieson brand can still be clearly seen on the cutting blade.
The 'rhino horn' handle is typical of a German or continental style of plane. Sometimes called a Bismarck plane and named after Prince Otto von Bismarck, the first leader of a united Germany from 1862 to 1890.
- The dimensions of the lamp base are: length 24 cm, width 6 cm, height with bulb, 20cm.
- 1.1 kg
Each lamp comes with a written history.
The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.
The replica vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.
Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.
We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.
Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
