This captivating table lamp tells a story of ingenuity and adaptation. Crafted from a meticulously restored carpenter's plane, it reflects a time when hand tools were king - plus a bit of sweat and tears.

The 'rhino horn' handle on this example is typical of a German or continental style of plane. Sometimes called a Bismark plane and named after the Prince Otto von Bismark, first Chancellor of a united Germany in the 19th Century.

Topped with a warm replica Edison bulb, this lamp transcends its utilitarian past.

It's a conversation starter, a unique blend of history and modern design, illuminating your space with a warm glow and a story of human ingenuity.

The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.

The replica vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.

Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.

We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.

Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.

Delivery

We have a $7 flat fee for delivery in the Wellington area, and a (free) click and collect service from Plimmerton, Wellington.

Delivery charges outside of Wellington will be calculated at check-out.

Deliveries to Australia may be subject to custom regulations regarding the importation of timber and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
