Small Wood Table Lamp | #133
This wood table lamp is handcrafted from a vintage carpenter's wood block plane, over 100 years old.
It was manufactured by Jan Nooitgedagt, a renowned Dutch company founded in the Netherlands in 1865. Specialising in top-quality woodworking tools and ice skates for over a century, their signature JNJ logo and crown are still displayed on the cutting blade.
The unique 'rhino horn' handle, commonly seen on German and continental planes, adds a touch of elegance to this 'Schrupphobel' or scrub plane, also known as a 'Bismarck' in honor of Prince Otto von Bismarck, the first Chancellor of a united Germany.
With its beautifully weathered beech wood base, now repurposed to hold an elegant candle bulb, this lamp emits a soft glow that creates a warm and inviting ambiance.
- The dimensions of the lamp base are: height with bulb, 20 cm, width 8 cm, length 18 cm
- 1.3 kg
The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.
The candle LED E14 screw fit bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a 2 year guarantee and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.
Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.
We recommend a LED bulb.
Your lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
