The Kanna Lamp

This unusual lamp was born from a vintage Japanese carpenter's plane (kanna), a tool with a history as rich as its elegant form.

Traditionally smaller and more refined than their European counterparts, these planes are masterfully crafted from hardwoods, and this one is a beautiful example of Japanese red oak.

We've gently cleaned and sanded the plane, hand-finishing the wood with natural beeswax to highlight its aged patina and unique character. A discreet felt pad has been added to the base to protect your surfaces.

A classic E14 LED candle bulb illuminates this piece, casting a warm and inviting glow that brings the tool to life.

Included with the lamp is a written history so you can share the story of this timeless tool and its new life as a beautiful light source.

This isn't just a lamp—it's a fascinating piece of art and history.

  • The dimensions of the lamp base are: height with bulb, 18 cm, width 8 cm, length 27 cm
  • 0.8 kg

The included vintage-style E14W LED candle bulb is designed to last approximately 1500 hours.

Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.

Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
