A One-of-a-Kind Lamp Handcrafted from Reclaimed New Zealand Tōtara

Salvaged from a working New Zealand farm, this singular heritage tōtara lamp carries more than a century of rural history in its grain. No two are alike — and this one will never be made again.

What makes this piece truly exceptional is the beautiful original lichen that has been carefully retained and preserved across its surface. Rather than sanded away, it has been treated with the same care as the timber itself — a living record of the post's life outdoors, now brought inside as a feature.

The timber is hand-sanded to reveal tōtara's warm, distinctive tones and finished with natural beeswax.  

Fitted with a warm Edison bulb, it casts a soft amber glow that brings quiet warmth to any room — a living room, study, or bedside table. It is as much a conversation piece as it is a light source, and a meaningful way to bring a piece of Aotearoa's pastoral landscape into your home.

The history of the timber has been retained by leaving any surface marks, while exposing and polishing the beautiful grain.

The vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb has a lamp life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are generally freely available in New Zealand.

Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.

Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.

With black fittings, this lamp has a long lead with an in-line switch.

Delivery

We have a $11.50 flat fee for delivery in the Wellington area, and a (free) click and collect service from Plimmerton, Wellington.

Delivery charges outside of Wellington will be calculated at check-out.

Deliveries to Australia may be subject to custom regulations regarding the importation of timber and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
