Hollowed Heritage Tōtara Fence Post Lamp #176
Where time has done the sculpting.
This remarkable lamp is handcrafted by JB at Shades at Grays from an authentic reclaimed tōtara fence post — but what sets it apart from any other is nature's own handiwork: a beautifully hollowed centre, carved out over decades by natural erosion.
The result is a lamp that is as much sculpture as it is light source. The smooth, polished top grain gives way to a dramatic organic hollow at the heart of the post, which catches and glows with the warm amber light of the vintage decorative globe above. It is raw and refined all at once.
True to its heritage, the original No8 wire remains wrapped around the post, and the original staples are still embedded in the wood — every mark and groove a record of the life this timber lived on the land before finding its way into your home.
A lamp that doesn't just light a room. It holds a lifetime of stories.
