Vintage Wood Plane Reborn as a Table Lamp

This unique lamp has been expertly refurbished from a genuine antique wood plane and carries the legacy of tradesmen initials spanning generations.

The beautiful beech wood, imprinted with the marks of its previous life, now houses an elegant candle bulb, emitting a gentle radiance that fills your surroundings and sparks conversation.

Handcrafted, this carpenter's wood plane was produced by Alex Mathieson & Son, a renowned company founded in Glasgow in the early 19th century.

This style is known as a 'coffin' plane, derived from the coffin-like shape of the wood block.

A written history accompanies each lamp, providing fascinating details about its origin. This lamp is more than just light; it's a conversation starter and a testament to enduring design.

The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.

The candle LED E14 screw fit bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a 2 year guarantee and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.

Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.

We recommend a LED bulb.

Your lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.

Delivery

We have a $9.50 flat fee for delivery in the Wellington area, and a (free) click and collect service from Plimmerton, Wellington or Greytown, Wairarapa.

Delivery charges outside of Wellington will be calculated at check-out.

Deliveries to Australia may be subject to custom regulations regarding the importation of timber and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
