Made from a repurposed carpenter's wood plane, each lamp is a statement piece that adds character to any room. An Edison bulb completes the vintage look.

This table lamp has been created from an old carpenter's plane of European design. The 'rhino horn' handle is typical of a German or continental style of carpentry plane, sometimes called a Bismarck plane and named after Prince Otto von Bismarck, the first leader of a united Germany from 1862 to 1890.

It is not known when this plane arrive in New Zealand but the original owner's name, J.Hill, is stamped into the wood. A later owner has also added the initials L.A in to the block.

Each plane comes with a written history.

The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.

The vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.

Each lamp is tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.

We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.

Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.

Delivery

We have a $7 flat fee for delivery in the Wellington area, and a (free) click and collect service from Plimmerton, Wellington.

Delivery charges outside of Wellington will be calculated at check-out.

Deliveries to Australia may be subject to custom regulations regarding the importation of timber and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
