With its slender candlestick silhouette, sculpted details and softly timeworn silver finish, this table lamp base brings character to a bedside table, console or cosy living-room corner. Picture it alongside favourite books and a comfortable chair, finished with a handmade shade that picks up the colours you love.
Made from aluminium, its oxidised silver patina has the appearance of aged pewter. This is a new lamp base with an antique-style finish, not an antique or a solid pewter piece.

Choosing your handmade lampshade
Your shade can take this classic base in quite different directions. Our photographs show a softly tapered dragonfly-and-floral shade for a light, botanical look, and a straight-sided William Morris Strawberry Thief shade for richer colour and intricate pattern. Both demonstrate how comfortably the silver finish works with patterned fabrics.
From the Shades at Grays range, a straight-sided 28 or 30 cm shade is a good starting point for a neatly proportioned table lamp. For a more traditional silhouette, consider our tapered 24 style. These are size suggestions, not confirmed measurements of the photographed shades. Choose according to your available space and whether you prefer a compact or more generous look.
Soft cream and muted green fabrics keep the effect restful; blue, botanical or richly patterned fabrics add character. A straight-sided shade feels more contemporary, while a taper echoes the base's traditional lines.
