Inspirational Light | Vintage Wood Table Lamp | #121
Add a touch of inspiration and sustainability to your lighting with this one-of-a-kind table lamp.
With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to preserving history, JB lovingly restores these planes, bringing new life to their old stories.
This Edison table lamp has been created from an old carpenter's wood plane made by two well-known U.K. tool making companies - Alexander Mathieson and F.G. Pearson.
Alexander Mathieson was a master sharp edge tool maker initially based in Glasgow, while Francis George Pearson's company in Sheffield produced cutting-edge tools in the 19th century.
Small wood planes of this design are called ’coffin’ planes because the body of the wood block resembles the shape of a coffin
A written history accompanies each lamp, providing fascinating details about its origin. This lamp is more than just light; it's a conversation starter and a testament to enduring design.
- The dimensions of the lamp base are: height with bulb, 19cm, width 7 cm, length 22 cm
- 1 kg
The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.
The replica vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.
Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.
We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.
Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
