Vintage Wood Plane Table Lamp | #110
Reimagined & Remarkable: Upcycled Wood Plane Lamp with a Story
Embrace inspirational and sustainable lighting with this unique table lamp.
Our vintage wood planes are often rescued from the cobwebby depths of garages and unused workshops. JB lovingly cleans off all the grease and years of dirt built up by decades of hard labour to upcycle them into beautiful ambient lighting.
His commitment is to continue their journey, re-tell their history and celebrate the past.
This Edison table lamp has been created from an old carpenter's wood block plane made by Alex Mathieson & Sons, a company established in Glasgow in the early 19th Century and producing quality woodworking tools for over a hundred years
The Mathieson brand is incorporated into the steel and is still visible on the cutting blade and on the toe of the wood block.
The meticulously restored beech wood, bearing the marks of its former life, now houses a warm Edison bulb, casting a soft glow that fills your space with eco-conscious warmth.
Each lamp comes with a written history, connecting you to the journey of this remarkable piece. More than just a lamp, it's a conversation starter and a testament to responsible design.
- The dimensions of the lamp base are: height with bulb, 20cm, width 6 cm, length 26 cm
- 1 kg
The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.
The replica vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.
Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.
We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.
Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
