Vintage Wood Plane Table Lamp | #109
Add a touch of inspiration and sustainability to your lighting with this one-of-a-kind table lamp. Photos do not do the dark honey tones justice, contrasted by marks of its earlier life.
Our vintage wood planes are rescued from dusty garages and abandoned workshops and transformed into beautifully ambient lights.
With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to preserving history, JB lovingly restores these planes, bringing new life to their old stories.
This Edison table lamp has been created from an old carpenter's block plane with components made by English toolmaker Thomas Ibbotson and Scottish toolmaker David Malloch in trade in the UK more than 100 years ago.
It is not known when the plane arrived in New Zealand but it has an original owner’s name A. SEARS stamped into the toe of the wood block in a triangle pattern.
In your home this is more than just a lamp - it's a conversation starter and a touchstone to a bygone era.
- The dimensions of the lamp base are: height with bulb, 20cm, width 8 cm, length 21 cm
- 1.2 kg
The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded to remove years of grime, and hand finished with natural beeswax.
The replica vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.
Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.
We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.
Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
