Table Lamp | Vintage Wood Plane | #111
Beyond the Blade - A Story of Adaptation
Embrace the history of innovation with this distinctive wood table lamp. This captivating piece tells a story of ingenuity and adaptation.
Crafted from a meticulously restored carpenter's plane, it has two identifiable makers and is branded I & H Sorby Sheffield, established in England around 1800, and Turtle Ltd. Croydon.
The company and later trading partners produced quality woodworking and cutting-edge items for well over a century.
Topped with a warm Edison bulb, this lamp transcends its utilitarian past. It's a conversation starter, a unique blend of history and modern design, illuminating your space with a warm glow and a story of human ingenuity.
The plane has been cleaned, lightly sanded, and hand finished with natural beeswax. It has a felt pad underneath to protect any surfaces you choose to place it on.
Any marks and blemishes resulting from years of use have been retained to give a sense of the history of the tool and those who have used it.
- The dimensions of the lamp base are: height with bulb, 20cm, width 7 cm, length 40 cm
- 2 kg
The replica vintage E27 40W screw fit Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.
Each lamp is independently tagged and tested. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.
We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.
Your Edison lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
