Table Lamp | Authentic Vintage Wood Plane #93
Embrace History: A 100-Year-Old wood plane lovingly restored and reborn as a lamp.
This handcrafted beauty, meticulously restored from a genuine vintage wood plane, carries the legacy of generations of skilled artisans.
The gorgeous beech wood, etched with the marks of its past life, now cradles a warm Edison bulb, casting a soft glow that illuminates your space and ignites conversation.
Each lamp comes with an individual history.
This plane is an impressive 17 inch (43cm) Jointer plane with a full ’tote’ or handle. The Ibbotson brand is incorporated into the steel cutting blade.
The toe of the beechwood base of this plane carries the branding of John Birch & Co., a planemaker trading in Birmingham between 1888 and 1894.
It is not known when the plane arrived in New Zealand but it is certainly more than 100 years old.
The dimensions of the lamp base are:
- height with bulb, 20cm, width 7 cm, length 43 cm.
- 2 kg
I have tried to retain a sense of the history of the tool by leaving surface marks while cleaning and polishing the beautiful beech wood with natural bees wax.
The vintage E27 40W screw fit replica Edison bulb, which comes with your lamp, has a life of about 1500 hours and can be easily changed for any number of similar bulbs that are widely available in New Zealand.
Each lamp is independently tagged and tested to ensure electrical safety. It has a long lead and an in-line switch.
We recommend a maximum 40W bulb.
Each table lamp has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
