Wharf Series #55
Keep Me Posts are functional art, that cherish the story of each piece of timber - stunning as art or functional, as door stops.
This post is unique, created using a piece of recycled wharf timber following the restoration of the Eastbourne wharf in Wellington harbour.
It is likely to be well over 100 years old.
Mounted on the post is a recycled iron pandrol clip or anchor, used on the railways.
An original bolt has been retained as part of this post's story.
Perfect as a door stop or stunning as a unique art piece.
Material: Jarrah & railway iron
- Dimensions: H 38 cm, W 20 cm, D 10 cm
- Weight: 6 kg
The timber is Australian Jarrah, a very dense and durable wood that is part of the Eucalyptus family.
Jarrah was imported and used along with other Australian hardwoods in late nineteenth century New Zealand for commercial and industrial construction.
The history of the timber has been retained by leaving any existing bolt holes and surface marks, while exposing and polishing the beautiful end grain.
Both the Jarrah and the old iron have been cleaned, sanded, and hand finished by applying a coating of natural beeswax.
Each Keep Me Post has a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.
We offer a flalt fee of $5 to deliver in the Wellington area, and a click and collect service from Plimmerton, Wellington.
Delivery charges outside of Wellington will be calculated at check-out.
Deliveries to Australia may be subject to custom regulations regarding the importation of timber and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
